Mist Maker

Home Up

The "Johnson Fogger" is certainly the Cadillac of foggers however, a much less expensive solution is the Mist Maker.  NOTE:  A Mist Maker is only designed for humidity.  It does not replace a dripper.  Your Chameleon can't drink mist or absorb it through his skin or anything like that.

Anyway, here's a cool misting option! I found this Mist Maker for $39.95CDN (about half in USD). It works the same way as a more expensive Ultrasonic Humidifier to make a nice dense fog. You place the metal transducer into a pan of water and the thing starts spewing out fog. If you cut a bit of a lip in your pan the fog will be directed out that side. Fill it in the morning, hook it up to a timer (3X / day about 1 hour each time) and set it on top of your screen cage.  Away you go! Best of all, no messy pipes to take apart and bleach every two weeks!

An unintended but useful flaw in the device causes it to spew jets of water into the air once in a while. This makes a steady accumulation of water that will drip into your cage here and there. Not enough for a steady supply of drinking water, but nice none the less.  I'm sure it would make a mess of your dining room table if you used the device as suggested to make a center piece but it's perfect for a Chameleon cage!
