June 17, 2002, 5 months late, I finally received two Nosey B chameleons from Global Exotics. I didn't know when or if Global would ever send them so I wasn't really all that well prepared for their arrival. Worse, I had already purchased 3 new Rainbow Babies! I had planned to just turn around and sell these guys right away but they are just too small to sell. Global shouldn't have shipped them this small I don't think. I hope they will settle in and start eating well. As with all new babies, time will tell but they look happy and healthy.
Chameleon babies are usually fine together until they reach about 12 weeks of age. At that point one or more Chameleons will become dominant, taking the best basking spots, eating the majority of the food and making life difficult for smaller Chameleons. Sometimes the smallest Chameleon will even die.
Because
the Nosey B babies are about 10 days younger than the "Rainbow" babies
I felt it would be best to separate the entire group. I bought another
aquarium and placed a coreplast divider down the middle to separate living
spaces for each animal. It's important make sure the living space isn't
too large or the baby won't find his food.
I know all the babies will need larger quarters in a month. All the babies get a chance to bask in outdoor cages weather permitting.
I'm careful to watch humidity and temperature levels - and yes, I know, aquariums are horrible for Chameleons but it's only temporary..
