Summer 2003

That's Steven on the Wakeboard and Theo on a hammock both enjoying Summer 2003

Summer 2003 has been fairly uneventful.  During the summer months we live out at the lake at beautiful Palliser Park.  The gang enjoyed the warm weather.  The new watering system was a big hit.  Even with temperatures reaching 104 on one occasion everyone stayed well hydrated.

Sam's first clutch turned out to be duds.  She recently mated with Theo and she's gravid again so hopefully this time the mating will take.  Tiger seems to be nearing the end of her reproductive life.  She did mate with Ichabod and she is gravid but doesn't seem interested in digging a nest.  She has dropped a few eggs on the bottom of her cage and they don't look like they are fertile.

I had hoped for some of Tiger's first clutch to hatch out this summer.  The eggs are big and healthy but so far no sign of any eggs.  Rainbow, Tiger's sister owned by my friend Ruth, laid eggs at the same time and so far two of Rainbow's eggs have hatched.  Hopefully Tigers eggs will begin to hatch out soon.

The Chams spent the whole time outside right up to August 29th.  Everybody ate well and grew in size.  Theo and Sam both shed a couple of times.  Even Ichabod shed this summer.  The gang really enjoyed eating some nice summer bugs, especially dragon flies and grasshoppers.  Moths were a big hit too.

A combination of a cold wet day and a sudden drop in temperature forced the gang inside last night. We will be heading back to Regina tomorrow so everyone will be living inside for the long cold winter months.  Hopefully before that we will be able to get out for a few days of sun this fall.
