Tiger
is a very nice looking female Rainbow Panther Chameleon. This picture
(left) was taken on September 1, 2002. Click here for
baby pictures.
When we first got Tiger in late May 2002 she was sold to us as a male however young chameleon's are notoriously hard to sex so it wasn't that surprising that "he" turned into a she.
I'm
very impressed with how she has turned out. This picture taken December
28, 2002 shows Tiger displaying her gravid colors. When a female is
nearing egg laying time or immediately after a successful mating, she will
change colors. Tiger will change from a light tan/brown to a very dark
brown with orange stripes. I call this her Halloween colors. It's
quite beautiful however my digital camera seems to have trouble with the color
orange so the effect is lost in the picture at the right..
Tiger is probably my best eater although Crystal is a very close second. Here she is as a baby eating a Saskatchewan Grasshopper. Although the grasshopper is larger than the prey I would usually suggest, my friend Ruth (who now owns Tiger's sister) has had great luck with Grasshoppers... so I decided let Tiger try one - and she LOVED it.
